Notes:

The Thompson family extends back into history to 497 A.D. in Scotland from the ancient house of West-de-la-Warr. William Thompson traveled to America with English troops to quell Colonial differences with the crown as well as fight Indians. About this time Nathaniel Bacon came to prominence in his "Bacon's Rebellion". This was about 1676 or 100 years before the Revolutionary War. William and Martha lived in Hanover Co. Va. at their home "Blackwell Neck" and had great wealth and enfluence in the colony.
